Goan cuisine is generally spicy in nature. In addition, it can get unbearably hot in that part of the country. To counter the heat of the surroundings and its food, a Goan meal has to be accompanied by a dish or a drink that can cool the system. Hence raitas, buttermilk and sol kadi ( drink made from kokum ) features regularly in their cuisine.

Here is a recipe which is not only loaded with veggies, but is also a good source of protein, coming from yogurt and peanut powder. It will help one beat the heat too!

Ingredients

2 cups yogurt

1/2 cup roughly chopped onions ( it adds crunchiness)

3/4 cup chopped cucumber

1/2 cup chopped tomato

1/2 cup roasted peanut powder

2 chopped green chillies

salt to taste

3 tbsp sugar

Method

  1. In a bowl add all the ingredients
  2. Mix well
  3. Serve as an accompaniment along with biryani, pulao or any Indian meal.
